Traffic flow and road conditions

Due to strong wind on the DC553 Omiš bypass road all traffic is suspended.

Passenger traffic is allowed only:

on the DC8 Adriatic road between the Prapratno and Zaton Doli junctions.

At the Dubrovnik bridge there is a traffic ban on: doubledeckers, trailers and motorcycles, from Senj to Sveta Marija Magdalena on the DC8 Adriatic road on the delivery vans and vehicles with covered cargo area.

Traffic is dense in cities and on their bypass roads.

During the day difficulties can occur in roadwork areas:

on the A1 Zagreb-Ploče-Karamatići motorway between the Otočac and Žuta Lokva junctions at 131st km in both directions;
on the A3 Bregana-Lipovac motorway between the Lužani and Slavonski Brod zapad junctions in each direction;
on the A7 Rupa-Rijeka motorway between the Učka and Rijeka zapad junctions in direction Križišće - one lane is free only;
on the A8/A9 highway in Istria between the Učka junction and Učka tunnel in both directions;
on the DC8 Adriatic road at Murvica near Zadar as well as at Solin;
on the DC1 state road at Udbina and Tušilović;
on the DC3 state road between Delnice and Vrbovsko.

Traffic is suspended:

on the A2 Zagreb-Macelj motorway at the entrance and the exit of the Sveti Križ Začretje junction in direction Zagreb until 24 October;
on the A3 Bregana-Lipov ac motorway at the Sveta Nedelja junction at the exit from direction Bregana towards Sveta Nedelja;
on the A6 Rijeka-Zagreb motorway at the entrance of the Vrbovsko junction in direction Rijeka;
on the A7 Rupa-Rijeka motorway at the Orehovica junction from direction Križišće towards Zagreb;
on the A7 Rijeka bypass road between the Rujevica and Škurinje junctions in direction Zagreb/Križišće 9pm-5.30am until 5 October.

Drivers are invited to adjust the speed and the way of driving to the road conditions and to keep distance.

A1 Zagreb-Ploče-Karamatići motorway:

until 15 November at the Babića most on the section Žuta Lokva-Otočac one lane is free only in each direction;
until 10 October on the section Otočac-Perušić-Gospić traffic is flowing in one lane only in both directions;

A2 Zagreb-Macelj motorway:

until 14 November the right lane between the 1 and 2 km towards Zagreb will be closed for all traffic due to roadwork;
until 24 October traffic is suspended at the entrance of the Začretje junction in direction Zagreb;
until 24 October traffic is suspended at the exit of the Začretje junction from direction Macelj in direction Sveti Križ Začretje;

A3 Bregana-Lipovac motorway:

until 30 September the Kraljeva Velika Sjever rest area (direction Zagreb) is closed due to reconstruction;
until 30 October between the Nova Gradiška and Slavonski Brod zapad junctions one lane is free only in both directions;
at the Stari Grabovac sjever and Stari Grabovac jug rest areas the parking areas are still closed until 30 October;
until 27 November between the Lužani and Slavonski Brod zapad junctions one lane is free only in both directions;
until 29 October at the Lučko junction in direction Lipovac traffic is proceeding in one lane only;
until 30 October at the Sveta Nedelja junction traffic is suspended at the exit from direction Bregana towards Sveta Nedelja, detour: Bobovica junction-DC231-Sveta Nedelja;

A4 Goričan-Zagreb motorway:

until 28 November at the Drava 2 and Drava 3 bridges between the Čakovec and Ludbreg junctions in direction Goričan one lane is free only;

A6 Rijeka-Zagreb motorway:

until 30 September 73rd-75th km in direction Zagreb one lane is free only;
until 30 October at the Stara Sušica tunnel, at the Javorova Kosa and Pod Vugleš tunnels between the Vrbovsko and Ravna Gora junctions one lane is free only in each direction;
until 24 October traffic is suspended at the entrance of the Vrbovsko junction in direction Zagreb, detour: DC42/DC3 state roads;

A7 Rijeka-Rupa-Žuta Lokva motorway:

until 15 October traffic is suspended at the Orehovica junction from direction Križišće towards Zagreb, detour in direction Zagreb from direction Krk/Križišće: Sv. Kuzam junction (A7)-ŽC5205-Čavle junction (A6), detour for the DC404 state road in direction Zagreb: Rijeka istok junction (Draga/A7)-Sv. Kuzam junction (A7)-ŽC5205-Čavle junction (A6);
between the Učka and Rijeka zapad junctions at 17th km in direction Križišće one lane is free only (60 km/h);
until 5 October 9pm-5.30am traffic is suspended on the A7 Rijeka bypass road between the Rujevica and Škurinje junctions in direction Zagreb/Križišće, there is a local detour through Rijeka;

A8/A9 highway in Istria

due to roadwork between the Učka tunnel and the Matulji junction temporary traffic regulation has been put into place and traffic might occasionally be suspended, detour options for personal vehicles: DC500 Vranja state road-Šušnjevica-Vozilići, ŽC5047 Vranja county road-Veprinac-Matulji;

DC1 state road:

roadwork is in progress at Brnaze, from direction Sinj towards Split there is a traffic ban on vehicles longer than 7 m;
due to roadwork traffic is proceeding with temporary traffic regulation on the Udbina bypass;
until 12 January at the Tušilović bridge one lane is free only.

30 September-5 October due to the CRO RACE international bike race traffic jams and traffic closure is possible, as it follows:

Border crossings

Due to technical issues traffic is suspended at the Aržano border crossing, detour: Kamensko border crossing.

Notifications about waiting time at border crossings are subject to frequent changes. Access to cameras at border crossings is provided on the Croatian Automobile Club website.

Until 31 December 2026 at the Erdut-Bogojevo border crossing there is a traffic ban on freight vehicles exceeding 7,5 tonnes.

The Gunja-Brčko border crossing is closed for all traffic, detour: Županja-Orašje border crossing.

At the Ilok-Bačka Palanka bridge traffic is allowed for vehicles up to 24 tonnes (driving speed limit of 30 km/h).

Starting 3 Junly 2023 international traffic is possible at the Slivno-Drinovačko Brdo border crossing.

Transit freight traffic is suspended at the Tovarnik/Šid border crossing, detour: Bajakovo border crossing.

Traffic is suspended for vehicles whose maximum weight exceeds 7,5 tonnes at the Pribanjci-Vinica border crossing on the DC204 state road.

The Dvor and Vitaljina border crossings are open for pedestrians and passenger traffic only.

Driving restrictions for heavy goods vehicles

Summer restrictions on freight vehicles

15 June-15 September there are traffic restrictions on freight vehicles heavier than 7,5 tonnes on Saturdays 4am-2pm, on Sundays noon-11pm and on holidays 3pm-11pm on the following roads:

- DC8-DC40 Bakar junction-Zadar-Split-Klek border crossing-Zaton Doli border crossing-Dubrovnik-Karasovići border crossing (except on the part DC27-Šibenik bridge-Šibenik-DC58, Bilice roundabout at Solin-Stobreč);

- DC9-Metković-Opuzen-DC8;

- DC21 Kaštel border crossing-Buje-Kanfanar junction (except on the part DC21 Kanfanar-Pula-DC66);

- DC23 Žuta Lokva-Senj;

Traffic restrictions for transit freight vehicles through Croatia:

For freight vehicle exceeding 7,5 tonnes there is a traffic ban on the DC414 state road from DC8-DC414 intersection to Prapratno junction as well as from Prapratno junction to Komarna junction (Pelješac bridge and its access roads).

According to the Book of regulations for public road transit traffic, freight vehicles heavier than 7,5 tonnes without a trailer/with a trailer longer than 14 m are allowed to use the following roads:

Traffic forecast for 3 October 2025

Due to strong wind in the area of Velebit there can be a traffic ban on some vehicles.

Dense traffic is expected in cities and their bypass roads.

Difficulties can occur in roadwork areas.

In passenger traffic there can be delays at some border crossings with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro, in freight traffic at Županja, Bajakovo and Tovarnik.

In ferry traffic difficulties are expected due to wind.
